Phonetic Reading Cards!
What do children read before they read books? Words! The four levels in this system create a truly phonetic,
progressively structured reading program filled with photos of objects the child will know. These cards work just like
the phonetic object box but with the added benefit of a control.
Beginning with Level 1 Packet A, children read the words on the separate word cards and match them to the picture-
only cards. Then, they use the control cards (which include the words and pictures) to check their own work. Each level
is divided into packets to make it easy to rotate work and maintain interest. As they complete each packet, their
confidence and ability grows.
Each Packet contains 6 control cards (3¾” x 4¼”), 6 matching picture cards (3¾” x 3”), and 6 word cards (3¾” x 1¼”);
18 cards in each packet all with rounded corners. All photos completely isolate their subject. Download our free

More challenging than Level 1, Level 2 words are truly phonetic
but they add in blends (like cr and sk). Start with Packet A then
work at the child's pace through each remaining packet in this
level. Packet E is the most challenging since it features words
with two syllables! The level is grouped into five packets of 6
subjects each. Rotate packets about every 2 weeks to maintain
interest. The five packets in Level 2 give you 5 to 10 weeks of
work with consonant blends! Each Packet contains 6 control
cards, 6 matching picture cards, and 6 word cards; 18 cards in
each packet all with rounded corners; 90 cards in the level.
