Read these cards on your own and use the words to inspire your spoken language games. For example, say, “This is a lesson on masculine and feminine words. I’m thinking of two words that mean the same thing but one word is for a male and one word is for a female.” Give several examples such as bull, cow; stag, doe. Keep going and let the children chime in as they are able.

Once the children start reading non-phonetic words, set them free with the cards to play related noun matching card games.
