We are closed on Juneteenth to honor and reflect
In 1865, 250,000 enslaved people in Texas were initially told by a Union Army general (who came to Galveston with a company of troops) that they were freed by executive decree. This action went forward even as Confederate officials resisted implementing the Emancipation Proclamation, which had become codified two years earlier. This day has now been memorialized into a Federal Holiday called Juneteenth, the "Black Independence Day".
Maitri Learning is taking time off today to pause, to reflect on where we've been, where we are, and where we need to go.
Price Changes
It is with deep regret that we have been required to adjust our prices to reflect the reality of our increased material and labor costs. Like all of you, we are feeling the results of inflation and must adapt to stay financially sustainable.
We have rarely changed our prices in nearly 20 years of business so please know that we do not take this change lightly. Neither are we driven by profits. Instead, we are trying to maintain a financially sustainable business that is able to pay a fair/living wage to everyone on our team.

We are all moved in to our lovely strawbale building! We had a lot of organizing, sorting and recycling to do but the place is now home.

Heading to Nashville for the AMS Conference!
We're super excited to be heading to Nashville for the AMS Conference, live and in-person!! We'll also have a virtual exhibit booth if you're joining from afar.
Stop by and see us in the Exhibit Hall (booth 505) to enter our raffle for some of our prototype gingham aprons! Julia and Kim will both be there to help you find the materials you need, to give lessons, or just to chat and catch up.

We've pulled together a collection of key materials recommended in the Dwyer/AMI Montessori language approach. This identifies everything you need to follow the AMI/Dwyer approach for children ages 2.5 to 6.

Julia is extremely grateful for the conversations shared with everyone who stopped by! We were able to connect with long time friends and new faces at the event.
Progess on our green building!
We are making progress on the addition to our new office space. The walls are up, the roof is on, and the siding is attached!
The original building is made of reclaimed beams, strawbales and adobe for walls, and locally harvested lumber. We were able to save much of the original siding and reuse it. Here's what we've done so far.
We bought a Green building!
Construction is underway at our new office space! We are adding on to the original building (a green building made of reclaimed beams, strawbales and adobe for walls, and locally harvested lumber for flooring and exterior walls). We can't wait to move in this March!
