3-Part Classified Reading Cards
Once children begin to read, they have a voracious appetite for the written word but they may feel overwhelmed or discouraged by traditional first reader books. These Classified 3-part Reading Cards (also called nomenclature cards) are the perfect next solution.
After children have had success with the Phonetic Reading Cards, use 3-Part Reading Cards to follow the child's interest while empowering them to read non-phonetic words. Approximate card sizes are 3¾” x 4¼” (control cards), 3¾“ x 3” (photo cards), and 3¾” x 1¼” (word cards). For more information, download our free lesson plan describing how to use 3-part reading classification cards.

We also offer many of our classified 3-part reading cards as vocabulary and matching cards; these contain the same photos but in a slightly larger format and without the distraction of the written word. It is great to have all three sets in one classroom so that the 3-year olds (using vocabulary cards), 4-year-olds (using matching cards), and 5+ year-olds (using 3-part reading cards) can all be exploring the same topic--great for classroom community building!
